The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has placed a $5 million bounty on the arrest of three rebel leaders – Corneille Nangaa, head of the Congo River Alliance, which includes the M23 rebels, and M23 leaders Sultani Makenga and Bertrand Bisimwa. Last year, all three were sentenced to death in absentia for treason. Kinshasa is also offering a reward of $4 million for the arrest of two journalists believed to be accomplices in the conflict. Despite the bounty, arrests seem unlikely as M23 rebels continue to gain ground against the nation’s armed forces.
