Guinea-Bissau’s Embalo in Moscow for Trade & Partnership Talks

Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin this week to boost bilateral ties. The discussions, part of Moscow’s drive to strengthen economic and security cooperation with West and Central African nations, focused on key sectors such as mineral resources, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and fishing. During their conversation, Putin highlighted a 10% growth in trade with Africa last year. He then expressed his desire to see cooperation between both countries grow. In response, Embalo reaffirmed the longstanding “fraternal relationship” between the two nations. Beyond their conversations on improving cooperation between their countries, the two leaders discussed regional and international issues.
